Remembrances of Shoghi Effendi - 1st Address

Hand of the Cause of God, Zikrullah Khadem, explains that he was asked to speak about his pilgrimage during the time of Shoghi Effendi’s ministry. Mr. Khadem went on pilgrimage seven times; his first was in 1925. At one time the Guardian gave him permission to come on pilgrimage any time he wished. He tells of miracles performed by the Guardian that he was part of. During his talk Mr. Khadem refers to himself as unworthy “humble dust”.

Remembrances of Shoghi Effendi - 2nd Address

Hand of the Cause of God, Zikrullah Khadem, recounts many moving experiences in the presence of the Shoghi Effendi and recounts some special assignments given him by "the Beloved Shoghi Effendi". A number of Hands of the Cause are discussed on this recording and their special qualities and accomplishments. He mentions in particular the writing of Hand of the Cause of God George Townshend.

The Question of Shoghi Effendi

Emeric Sala (1906-1990) went on pilgrimage during the time of Shoghi Effendi. For each of the five nights Sala was there he had the Guardian all to himself for three hours. The question of derived infallibility came up. Shoghi Effendi's question to Emeric Sala was this: The derived infallibility of 'Abdu'l-Baha was transferred to whom "after the ascension of 'Abdu'l-Baha?" Sala replied, To you, Shoghi Effendi. The Guardian said, "No." You need to listen to find out the Guardian's answer.

Shoghi Effendi - Expounder of the Baha’i Faith

May Hofman reviews the prodigious work accomplished by the Guardian, Shoghi Effendi Rabbani. She quotes extensively from his writings and discusses his development of the gardens and buildings on the Arc; his translations of Sacred Scripture; his development of the Administrative Order; the questions he answered by Divine Infallibility; the centrality of the Principle of the Oneness of Mankind; and much more.

Unity - The Creative Foundation of Peace

There is no doubt that peace has been the object of our desire and our thoughts from the beginning of our time. In spite of this when we look at ourselves today we see that we have fundamental difficulties in attaining this very deep desire within ourselves. Why?

Why don’t we have peace, in spite of our efforts and desires we are still far from attaining to this goal.

Shoghi Effendi’s Vision as Expressed in The Advent of Divine Justice

The Advent of Divine Justice is a book length letter written by Shoghi Effendi on December 25, 1938 to the Bahais  of the United States and Canada  describing the role of America  in establishing the Most Great Peace.  The book is about the destiny of America . Shoghi Effendi describes important role North American Bahá'ís  will play establishing the Faith around the world. He says first they must internalize three spiritual prerequisites: "moral rectitude," "absolute chastity," and "complete freedom from prejudice."

Peace a Task for All

The question of peace has been raised repeatedly since the International Peace Congress of 1843. Since that time 14 decades have passed and hopes have been raised because we know, we must create peace. In the modern times we follow many international peace makers such as the Geneva Peace Conferences, London has a Peace Bureau and UN also works for peace.

The Vision of Shoghi Effendi and the Tablets of the Divine Plan

Mr. Bond relates the background of the Tablets of The Divine Plan and circumstances under which Shoghi Effendi prepared the Baha’I Community for their execution.

The Tablets of the Divine Plan served as both a mandate and master strategy for Shoghi Effendi. He describes the military terminology used by the Guardian in reference to the Tablets.

The various plans, such as the First Seven Year Plan (1937-1944) and the World Crusade (1953-1963) are reviewed in some detail in this presentation.

Shoghi Effendi and the Countries of the East

-Letter from Hand of the Cause of God, Mr. Ali Akbar Furutan, dated October 13, 1984 from the Holy Land read by Dr. A.M. Ghadirian

Dr. Ghaderian’s reading of Hand Furutan’s presentation is in English except for a brief time between five and six minutes—and 21 and 23 minutes—when he reads in Persian.  Mr. Furutan went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land twice and met Shoghi Effendi. He then reviews the accomplishments of the Guardianship on many topics.

Shoghi Effendi: Remembrances

The talk is preceded by a two-minute recitation of a healing prayer for Hand of the Cause of God William Sears who was then recovering from an operation. Hand of the Cause Varqá cites the condition of the Bahá’í World.  He explains that Bahá’ís are still under the Divine Plan of ‘Abdu’l-Baha. He describes the period of the Hands following the passing of the Guardian. Emphasizes the importance of Bahá’í youth to the future.

Baha’u’llah

Byan Towfiq speaks about Baha’u’llah and His influence on those who met Him. ‘Abdu’l-Baha said, “The light and heat of the sun cause the earth to be fruitful and creates life in all things that grow. And the Holy Spirit quickens the souls of men.” Explains that Baha’u’llah came to unite the hearts, renew the characters and purify the souls. Explains that entering the Presence of Baha’u’llah was entering the Presence of God. “An atmosphere of majesty haloed Him as the sun at midday.

The Dispensation of Baha’u’llah

Dr. Hatcher opens with a personal comment that he became a Baha’I in 1957, some months before the passing of Shoghi Effendi. Dr. Hatcher says his teacher was Winston Evans. Winston Evans so inculcated into William Hatcher his love for the Guardian that Hatcher was “totally devastated” by the passing of the Guardian. He was consoled by “The Dispensation” which Hand Khadem reported that Shoghi Effendi had said was “his will and testament”. William Hatcher reads ‘Amatu’l-Bahá’s comments about “The Dispensation”.

Shoghi Effendi - Master Builder of a World Civilization

“World Order of Baha’u’llah” was written in the 1930s, a turbulent period that includes The Great Depression, the rise of Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. People were searching for change and these leaders promised it. Now fifty years later the doctrines of these false hope have been swept away and people are beginning a serious appraisal of the writings of Shoghi Effendi. Shoghi Effendi’s herculean task was to train the Baha’is while attending to a host of tasks, each one of which would constitute a full-time job for anyone.

Seven Skies

 - 1984 Contest Winner for Creative Writing, Bruce Filson

For the first one minute Mr. Filson speaks in French before using English, which he does for the remainder of the recording.

Mr. FIlson first quotes Baha'u'llah from the Introduction to the "Seven Valleys". He then describes the ironies and contradictions in one’s journey to God in poetic meter.

Panel Discussion on Peace

Dr. Rodrigo Corazo begins the panel by speaking about the University for Peace. He speaks in Spanish, with English translation in between. He first defines what exactly the University of Peace is? The concept of how such a University came about because the people of Costa Rica felt that education is a fundamental necessity for Peace.

Review of God Passes By

Dr. Eyford explains that the book reviews—in Shoghi Effendi’s own words—“the history of the first hundred years of its [the Baha’i Faith’s] evolution [and] resolves itself into a series of internal and external crises, of varying severity, devastating in their immediate effects, but each mysteriously releasing a corresponding measure of divine power, lending thereby a fresh impulse to its unfoldment, this further unfoldment engendering in its turn a still graver calamity, followed by a still more liberal effusion of celestial grace enabling its upholders to accelerate still further its march and win in its service still more compelling victories.”
