Mr. Davis addressed the various Cultures of the Bahá'í community that need to emerge to that they need to learn to share with each other. It will help us to grow together and create a common Bahá'í culture. As he had experienced the capacity of the Baha'i community is now greater than 14 years ago. Bahá'ís from many cultures and races are working on economic and development projects.

Parent Workshop

Mr. Jack McCants talked about how to teach the faith. When you want to teach the Faith God will aid you and guide your spirit with his unfailing power. He talked about the quality of leadership, the quality of God and explained the Glory of God. Abdu'l-Bahá said that “Only quality of God that you and I can understand is those we have experienced". What is it that God wants you to be? God want you to know Him and to worship Him to enjoy and be happy.

Soviet Union: Love & Understanding

Linda Couture describes her recent visit to the Soviet Union, using slides that she has taken. She talks of a culture that is free of street crime and extremely clean. The community is friendly and many people opened their homes to her. There is concern for the well-being of the children and the "propaganda" promotes peace rather than war.  Ms. Couture concludes her talk with a description of celebrations, which commemorate the end of world War II.

Teaching in Taiwan

Ms. Bellows says people are accepting Bahá’u’lláh by the troops every day in Taiwan. She goes on to say, “My personal background is Chinese teaching.” She advises that Teaching the Chinese about the Faith in ‘Chinatown’ in America is going to be difficult. Americans believe stereotypes about Chinese people, such as they are not friendly, that is “not true”. Relationship and trust are very important in teaching Chinese in America. The great success in Taiwan began with the youth. She reviewed the warnings and advice given her by Bahá’í institutions upon reaching Taiwan.

Heroic to the Formative Age

The recording is the opening of the International Baha'i Youth Conference in Columbus, Ohio. After a few speakers, Dr. Henderson welcomed the attendees and facilitators of the conference. Present at the conference are Counselors Jacqueline (now Left-Hand Bull) Delahunt, Dr. William (“Billy”) Roberts, Dr. Wilma Brady, Mr. Robert Harris, and NSA of the USA Chair, Judge Dorothy Nelson. It was remarked that Hand of the Cause of God Mr. William Sears, could not be there because of illness but that he was “spiritually” present. Next the hosts of conference were introduced.

The Stage is Set

Ms. Wilma Ellis Kazemzadeh, administrator of the Bahá'í Communication Office in NY, congratulated the National Youth Committee for choosing Indiana University as the site for the 1988 International Youth Conference.. She stated that since the Bahá'í s of Iran have been deprived of their right to higher education in their homeland that we should recall the words of the Guardian. She quoted from Shoghi Effendi's Messages to America (1947) "There is no time to lose. There is no room left for vacillation. Multitudes hunger for the Bread of Life. The stage is set.

You Must Take the First Step

Mr. Bob Harris dedicates his talk to the six Bahá’í youth whose “complete love for Bahá’u’lláh” caused them to be executed on 18 June 1983 in Shiraz, Iran. Bahá’í youth everywhere are called upon to “vindicate the sacrifice” of these youth” quoting the cable of the Universal House of Justice, Mr. Harris reads: “SURELY, YOU WILL SEE THAT THE HEROIC DEEDS OF SACRIFICE ON THE PART OF OUR IRANIAN BRETHREN ARE MATCHED WITH CORRESPONDING EFFORTS ON YOUR PART IN THE VAST FIELDS OF TEACHING AND SERVICE…”.

Summoning the Heros

In the beginning of the program readers Mitchell Lancaster, Jenn Wallace, Vera Lui and Fina Vizell,  read six vignettes recalling the martyrdom Baha’i youth and other heroic martyrdoms of those Baha'is who sacrificed themselves for love of God and for His Cause. Next  Mr. Iraj Rahmani shared some of his feelings about his Pilgrimage to the Holy Shrines. About 20 youth just arrived directly from pilgrimage and shared experiences. Next Counselor William (“Billy”) Roberts read this short Tablet of Abdu'l-Bahá.

Can We Afford a Moments Hesitation

The speaker—Dr. Wilma Ellis Kazemzadeh—is a second generation member of a four generation Bahá’í family. She served on Continental Board of Counselors, worked as the administrator of the Bahá’í International community in New York. She talked about the significance of the day and age in which we live. She shared some quotes of Shoghi Effendi about our remarkable opportunities to teach the Faith. Ponder in your heart, strive to understand.  We should rise resolutely unified to build dedicated Bahá’í community worldwide.  We should see the majesty and power of revelation of Bahá’u’lláh.
