Baha’i Family Life

1982

Dr. Agnes Gazvani speaking in Farci with English translation.

We believe that no religion has an appropriate family model but the Baha’i Faith. Baha’is follow the Baha’i family concepts that are taught in the Baha’i teachings regardless of the corner of the world in which they live. There are a few aspects of family affairs that we should consider. Foremost is children's education Baha’u’llah has said; The parents must exert every effort to rear their offspring to be religious.  Abdu’l-Baha has compared children to young plants. Teaching the children is same as pouring the water on a young plants to grow. Keynote of education is not to ask “ What do you like to do” but rather to do the work together. If we asking our children “what do you like?”, we are addressing their animal nature.

Next we must consider the role of parents. We should pray for our parents. It is the duty of parents to train their children perfectly. Abdu’l-Baha gave the highest station to mothers. If mothers knew their role was the most importan in this world, they would do their jobs in a happier spirit.
