Relevance of Baha’i Principles to Contemporary Marital Therapy

Dr. Frank Handel had been a panel speaker earlier in the day in Ottawa, Ontario, on the subject of Healing Sexuality in Marriage. He changed this talk to be on “Gaining Perspective on the Issues of Marriage and Family with a concern with Individual Behavior”.

Baha’u’llah has chosen His words with perfect care, that in psychiatry, communications that can lead to knowledge, with the Word of God as a stimulus. 

The nature of man is that he is a spiritual being. A noble being.  The Diadem of creation. This does not put down other forms of creation, but indicates a need to really examine the unique nature of what it really means to be human. We have anxieties as we look to the unknown. To make the unknown known helps make the anxieties manageable.  Divine Guidance gives real Freedom, while license to do anything we like tends to undermine freedom (throw the traffic light rules, and all do their own thing, on their own whim). Being close to God helps us to deal with isolation, loneliness and fear of death. And helps to define our Purpose in Life.
