The Importance for Physicians to Turn to God

1980

At the time of this recording Dr. Agnes Ghaznavi is a praticing psychiatrist in Switzerland as well as the secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Switzerland. She works with couples, groups and individuals, and she says she is eclectic in all her psychiatry work and approaches.

As a psychiatrist, Dr. Ghaznavi is most interested in relationships, their implications and effects. She believes them to be essential in all aspects of Life, especially in the process of healing. The Baha'i writings specifiy relationships between man and his creator. All spiritual qualities of man express themselves in his relationship to his creator, to the universe, and to his fellow man. According to her, the Baha'i writings state that great importance is to be placed first, between the Physician to God, then between the Physician to his Patient.

Only through this relationship of "trust" between the Physician and the Patient will allow for physical medicine to operate effectively within the body of the paitent. The soul of the Patient who feels the "trust" and "hope" in his physician will absorb the medicine and metabolize it.
